Doing your first road rally is a bit like falling in love for the first time, because nothing anyone says about it will mean anything until it happens to you. 

That said, here are a couple of pieces of advice. 
1.  Read the General Instructions, or at least the Glossary, so you have an idea of rally terminology, otherwise you'll just get hopelessly lost and not have any fun.
2.  Install the 'Competitor - Richta GPS Checkpoints' app.  Use the link and follow the instructions.  It's really easy.  Plus it makes your phone the only clock you'll need.

Finally, don't expect too much.  You probably won't win your first time out, but you should get an idea of what rallying is all about.
