It's a new year which brings something new, the SMEMSS rallies (see below) and the pausing of a longtime SMSCC staple -- the First Friday Niter rally series.  There will be a January FFN on Friday, January 3, written by Joanna Weissen.  Like last year's January FFN, the rally will be a tour (no traps) focusing on Christmas light displays.  (Last year's rally was spectacular, with lots of lights and a few really big displays.)  It will likely run in Burbank and/or Glendale, and likely finish at the IHOP on Glendale Ave in Glendale.

This rally uses the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring..  The maximum penalty this month is ?? seconds (? minutes) per checkpoint.  The app is FREE and easy to use on any GPS-enabled smartphone.  Go to the App Store or Google Play Store, or https://richtarally.com/.  There is no need for additional timing equipment or clocks - your Official Time shows in the app!

Also, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app.

After the January FFN, we will be switching to the SMEMSS rallies -- Santa Monica Even Month Second Saturday rallies.  So on the second Saturday morning of even months (February, April, and so on), we want you to come join us for these daytime rallies.  Yes, daytime.  It's amazing what you can see in the daylight!  They will start at the same place as the FFNs, the Bank of America rear lot in Mission Hills.  In person registration will open at 9:00 am, first car out at 10:01 am. and they will take approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete.  For a list of the dates, go to www.smscc.org, and click on 'Next Day Rally'.  We will be posting more info on smscc.org and on MotorSportReg soon.

Also, if you want to see all the scores at the Finish, download the FREE Richta Scoreboard app also.

Please try to register online at www.msreg.com/FFN012025.  If that doesn't work for you, you can still register in person at the start.  We start at the Bank of America rear lot, 10300 Sepulveda Blvd (Sepulveda and Devonshire) in Mission Hills.  In-person registration opens at 7:00 pm, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.

Is your usual rally partner not available for this FFN?  Let Jeanne know and she will attempt (no guarantees) to match you up with another single.  Contact Jeanne at ean21@juno.com
