Did you enjoy the July FFN?  Then come join us for the August First Friday Niter, on August 6.  Jeanne English is the rallymaster, and she has written a rally again using some of her favorite roads in the foothills surrounding the Santa Clarita Valley.  This time there will be some traps, all less than a minute in trap value.  We will be using the Richta Competitor app (free download) for timing to the nearest second.  There will be a restart after each checkpoint, and each checkpoint is listed in the route instructions.  This means, in effect, that the rally is mostly a free zone since you only need to be on time at the checkpoints and they are all listed.  The rally finishes at Topper's Pizza Place, 18417 Soledad Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, 661-222-7888.

Also coming in August is Not My Fault on August 28, an SCCA Divisional TSD Tour rally written by Joanna Weissen.  There are no traps on this rally, just lots of fun driving on the curvy canyon roads in the Acton and Palmdale areas.  The finish is at La Cabaña Mexican Restaurant, 2370 Soledad Canyon Rd, in Acton.  The flyer is attached.

We are working with MotorsportsReg.com to do something new for us – online registration and waivers.  There is no additional charge (just the usual entry fee) to contestants.  The direct link for the August FFN is msreg.com/FFN082021, and for Not My Fault is msr.com/NMF.  There are many advantages to using MSReg – once you set up your account (free to do), signing up for subsequent rallies is very quick since your info is already on file; you will be able to pay by credit card; we will know how many people are signed up; registration at the start will be much quicker (we just check you off our list).

Of course, if you can’t pre-register you will still be able to sign up at the start at the Bank of America rear lot, 10300 Sepulveda Blvd (Sepulveda and Devonshire), Mission Hills.  In-person registration for the FFN opens at 7:00 pm, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.  For NMF, send in the entry form on the attached flyer, or show up at the start.  In-person registration opens at 9:00 am, with the first car out at 10:01 am; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 9:30 am.

The FFN entry fee is $25, with a $10 discount if either the driver or navigator is an SCCA member.  (If you run the FFNs regularly, this becomes an excellent reason to join SCCA, plus there are other discounts available.)   The entry fee for NMF is $60, with a $10 discount if either the driver or navigator is an SCCA member.  There is also a $10 discount if you pre-enter NMF by August 25th.
