Time for the October First Friday Niter, coming October 1! This month we have a guest rallymaster, Joe Batwinis. He has written a tour rally, with some fun roads for the drivers. The odo check heads east to Lake View Terrace, then across the mountain to Santa Clarita, then across more mountains to the finish at Denny’s, 1257 Rancho Vista Blvd, Palmdale, CA 93551. (Joe lives in Lancaster – when you write your own rally you can finish close to home!)
We are again using the Richta GPS Competitor app for timing and scoring, with timing to the second. There will be a restart after each checkpoint, and each checkpoint is listed in the route instructions.
We are working with MotorsportsReg.com to do something new for us – online registration and waivers. There is no additional charge (just the usual entry fee) to contestants. The direct link for the October FFN is msreg.com/FFN102021, There are many advantages to using MSReg – once you set up your account (free to do), signing up for subsequent rallies is very quick since your info is already on file; you will be able to pay by credit card; we will know how many people are signed up; registration at the start will be much quicker (we just check you off our list).
Of course, if you can’t pre-register you will still be able to sign up at the start at the Bank of America rear lot, 10300 Sepulveda Blvd (Sepulveda and Devonshire), Mission Hills. In-person registration for the FFN opens at 7:00 pm, with the first car out at 8:01 pm; there is a beginner/Richta meeting at 7:40 pm.
The FFN entry fee is $25, with a $10 discount if either the driver or navigator is an SCCA member. (If you run the FFNs regularly, this becomes an excellent reason to join SCCA, plus there are other discounts available.)
